The Hidden Gardens of Brighton and Beyond!

Posted by editor on Thursday, 28 June 2018

Looking at lovely gardens is so enjoyable, and a special pleasure when they are private gardens that we wouldn’t otherwise see.

Our first in a series of special visits is to the garden of perennials expert Paul Seaborne of Pelham Plants in Laughton. Many of you will have met Paul selling his fabulous herbaceous perennials and other gems at the Garden House on one of our Open Days.

The Garden House invites you to an exciting and informative afternoon – Wednesday 18 July 14:00 -16:30

Paul will lead us on a walk and talk around his garden looking at the best way to grow perennials in your garden and advise you on the right plant for the right place in your plot.

We will then have tea and cake, followed by the opportunity to buy plants.

There will be plenty of time for questions and answers and this should prove to be a great opportunity to spend time looking at plants with an expert on hand to advise you.

Paul lives in Laughton just outside Lewes, and details of the address will be given at the time of booking

The cost for the walk and talk with tea and cake is £25 per person – please contact us if you would like to join us.

It will be possible to share lifts, so let us know if you either need a lift or can offer one.

Specialist Plant Fair at The Garden House…

Posted by editor on Sunday, 27 May 2018

What a summer we’re having here at The Garden House!  Our Artists Open House during May has been very successful, bringing people into the garden not only to view work, but also to enjoy quietly wandering in the garden, finding surprises and plant joy at every turn, or settling in a quiet corner and relaxing with a cup of tea.

Next on the agenda is our Specialist Plant Fair – Saturday 2 June, 11am to 5pm – this is a must see event, even if you have visited recently!

June is an ideal time for buying and planting out new and exciting plants in your garden – and our invited local nurseries and expert plants growers will not disappoint! They will have selections of rare and unusual herbaceous perennials, alliums, annuals, vegetable plants, summer bedding and pot plants. Also some very fine succulents and drought-tolerant plants.

Always a treat will be Iain Swain’s selection of beautifully restored garden tools, Black & Green’s metal plant supports and stakes (so useful!), and The French Barn’s paraphernalia and collectible items.

Come for tea/coffee, cakes or a delicious lunch. We look forward to seeing you. Saturday 2 June, 11am to 5pm. Entrance is £2.50 per person, children free.

Venue: The Garden House, 5 Warleigh Road, Brighton BN1 4NT
