***** This event has now finished *****

Discover the many the benefits of hen keeping with expert Charlotte Popescu – how they can reduce our waste and give us so much in return – eggs, manure for the garden, and a huge amount of fun!

Charlotte’s afternoon workshop and talk covers everything you need to know when starting with hens in the garden including images of many popular breeds. Find out about housing, feeding, egg laying, predators, how to manage cockerels, and hatching chicks.

While growing up in Oxfordshire Charlotte kept chickens for many years as family pets – including her own bantams. Now in Wiltshire and married with three boys, Charlotte lives the lifestyle that she writes about – keeping 45 chickens in the garden including three cockerels, growing vegetables and fruit, and gathering wild food.

Building on the success of her first chicken related book:  Hens in the Garden, Eggs in the Kitchen, Charlotte has also written Best Hens for You, Chickens Runs and Vegetable Plots and Chickopedia.

Afternoon workshop: 1.30pm until 3.30pm.
