- Brighton & Hove Organic Gardening Group BHOGG! – a group for gardeners in Brighton and Hove who want to practise, promote and learn more about organic gardening.
- Brighton Permaculture Trust Brighton Permaculture Trust promotes greener lifestyles and sustainable development through design. We run courses and events and apply permaculture principles to our projects.
- Harvest Brighton & Hove Harvest B & H is all about growing your own and eating local food. Harvest has brought together different organisations interested in food who will help you learn to grow your own, make use of surplus produce and eat more tasty local food.
- The Hardy Plant Society The HPS exists to inform and encourage the novice gardener, stimulate and enlighten the more knowledgeable, and entertain and enthuse all gardeners bonded by a love for, and an interest in, hardy perennial plants.
Inspirational Gardens to Visit
- Sussex Prairies Garden The garden features many unusual varieties of herbaceous perennials planted in a free-flowing naturalistic style. Despite this being a relatively new garden, its maturity and connection with the wider landscape is just sublime.
Local artisans
- Jo Sweeting – sculptor Sculptor and letter carver Jo Sweeting works mainly in sandstone, limestone and Portland stone; she is interested in the figure, natural forms and the process of growth, movement and decay, whether in human or plant form.
- Steve Betteridge – decorative ironwork Steve recently designed and made us a wonderful gate for The Garden House. His work is creative and exciting, so do contact him if you need any creative ironwork in and around your garden!
- Sue Wood Arts Sue is a visual artist using her sketchbook and camera as her essential travel companions to create a rich and vibrant visual record. Sue’s favourite gardens are Great Dixter, with its exciting plant combinations and tinge of anarchy and The Garden House
Nurseries
- Marchants Hardy Plants Unique small nursery specialising in herbaceous perennials and ornamental grasses, propagated on site. Opened in 1998 by plantsman Graham Gough, the nursery and garden are definitely inspirational.
- Peter Beales Roses Peter Beales is one of the country’s leading rose growers, and one of The Garden House’s favourite nurseries. Holders of the National Collection of Rosa species.
- Pure Plants Pure Plants is a traditional nursery growing the vast majority of its own plants using both traditional methods and modern techniques. They stock many popular and well known plants, but also offer many highly unusual and lesser-known ones.
- Rapkyns Nursery Located in an idyllic spot near Heathfield, E. Sussex, Rapkyns is essentially a cottage garden nursery where owner and plant enthusiast Steven Moore offers many unusual and sought after varieties of hardy perennials, shrubs and climbers.

- Alex Stryckzo Having trained in Fine Art, Alex has more recently found himself drawn to photography, combining this with his passion for flora and fauna. Many of Alex’s photos are featured on The Garden House website.
