Friday 25th Macmillan Coffee Morning at The Garden House!

Posted:20 September 2015

Come to The Garden House and support the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, Macmillan Cancer Support’s biggest fundraising event.

All over the UK on Friday 25th September people will be hosting Coffee Mornings with all monies raised and donations on the day going to Macmillan. The first ever Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990. It was a rather small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process. It was so effective that Macmillan did it again the next year – only this time nationally. Since then, Coffee Morning has raised over £138 million for Macmillan.

So, join us on Friday 25th – and bring your family and friends – this is the perfect chance to enjoy the garden, and catch up over a cuppa and a slice of something delicious for a great cause. One in three of us will face cancer, and the money you contribute will help Macmillan make sure no one has to face it alone.

About Macmillan nurses:

As of June 2013, there were 3,942 Macmillan nurse posts across the UK, both in hospitals and in the community.

All Macmillan nurses are registered with at least five years experience, including two or more years in cancer or palliative care. They have completed specialist courses in pain and symptom management, and psychological support.

Most of the nurses work in NHS hospitals or the community. A small number work in hospices and private hospitals, but do not charge for their services. As specialists they do not routinely undertake nursing care but are there to assess complex needs, give advice to other healthcare professionals and support people with cancer to understand their treatment options.
