We love: Seedy Sunday!

Posted:25 January 2015

Here at The Garden House, one of the things we love to do during the cold months is to choose seeds for the spring, experimenting with new varieties of flowers and vegetables.

So aren’t we lucky to have on our doorstep the annual Seedy Sunday event, the UK’s biggest and longest running community seed swop event. The next one takes place in Brighton on Sunday 01 February 2015, 10.30 4.30 at Brightons Corn Exchange.

16071747839_6afff154f0_oLocal gardener and writer, and Seedy Sunday chairman, Steve Bustin says: “A question we get asked a lot is whether you can take part even if you haven’t got any seeds to swop. You absolutely can – you can make a 50p donation for any packet of seed you’d like from the seed swop table, and there are a number of independent and heritage seed companies with stalls at the event to buy seeds from.”

It’s a great day out with 60 community stalls including charities, community and campaigning groups, plus local eco and ethical businesses, plus kids’ activities, cookery demonstrations and even a choir – so there’s lots to get involved with even if you don’t want to swap seeds.

The Garden House will be there along with many other exciting stalls, and TV gardener Christine Walkden will lead a full speaker programme (full details on the website), and there’ll be an Infinity Café (Infinity Foods are sponsors).

Prices: Entrance £3 / Concessions £2 / Kids Free
