Seedy Sunday: Save the Date!

Posted:15 January 2017

Here at The Garden House, one of the things we love to do during the cold months is to plan ahead, choosing seeds for the spring, and experimenting with new varieties of flowers and vegetables.

So aren’t we lucky to have on our doorstep the annual Seedy Sunday event the UK’s biggest and longest running community seed swop event held here in Brighton & Hove.

This year’s Seedy Sunday takes place on Sunday 05 February 2017, 10.30 – 4.30pm. Note the NEW VENUE for 2017: as a result of the Brighton Dome Corn Exchange refurbishment plans, Seedy Sunday will be held at Brighton, Hove and Sussex Sixth Form College – BHASVIC, 205 Dyke Road, Hove BN3 6EG

It’s a great day out with many stalls selling everything from seeds and seed potatoes to garden paraphernalia, plus there will be a seed swop table and speaker programme. Also community stalls including charities, community and campaigning groups, local eco and ethical businesses, kids’ activities and an Infinity Foods Café (Infinity Foods are sponsors).  So there’s lots to get involved with even if you don’t want to swap seeds.

Seedy Sunday is also a campaign to protect biodiversity and protest against the increasing control of the seed supply by a handful of large companies.

If you fancy getting involved, they are looking for volunteers interested in helping out for a couple of hours at the event, or helping to organise future events? Email volunteers@seedysunday.org for more details.
