What's On

Flowers, Foliage, Form, Function, Fashion and Fun!

* THIS EVENT HAS NOW FINISHED *

Thursday 7th March | 10:00am - 1:00pm

For all lovers of plants we bring you an exciting new 6-session course at the Garden House, focusing on 6 F’s – Flowers, Foliage, Form, Function, Fashion and Fun! – offering a different perspective to our many other courses.

It is our hope by the end of the course you will have a greater knowledge of plants, how to care for them, and how to use them imaginatively in your own garden.  We also want to think about the role plants play in everyday life – which plants have been in/fallen out of fashion; how plants have influenced design etc.– this will be part of a collaborative project…

  • Each week we will look at a type/category of plant, thinking about the plants from both a horticultural and a design point of view: climbers, herbaceous perennials, shrubs, bulbs and houseplants
  • Each week we will identify 3 “plants of the moment”
  • Each week we will highlight a detailed care plan and discussion on one of the following: roses, euphorbias, clematis, tulips and alliums, hardy geraniums and pelargoniums.
  • One week will be dedicated to planning for the next gardening year
  • Our last week F is for FUN…!

More will be explained on day one!

Dates:Thursday mornings 10am-1pm – 7, 14 and 28 March, 25 April, and finally 2 and 16 May 2019
