Drawing Summer Blooms in Pastels

Wednesday 16th July | 10:30am - 4:00pm

We are so pleased to have Debbie Hinks, a Brighton & Hove-based artist and art tutor, return to the Garden House.  Debbie is a brilliant and inspiring teacher for all skill levels, a professional illustrator for over 25 years who now runs her own life drawing and portrait sessions at various venues in East Sussex.

Debbie will guide you step-by-step, demonstrating  techniques and developing your own style.  Our inspiration will be flowers and foliage from the garden, working from photos but also working from life.

Working initially in charcoal to establish composition, then moving onto charcoal/white pastel to organise tonal ranges.  Then after lunch you will start working in Coloured Chalk Pastels and Pencils (please bring your own), considering both flat pattern and the importance of cropping an image to create large, dynamic imagery. Included in the fee: gorgeous Fabriano pastel paper and newsprint paper for quick sketches.

Cost: £125, to include vegetarian lunch and refreshments

Date: Wednesday 16 July  / 10.30am – 4pm

PLEASE BOOK ONLINE. If you are unable to pay online, please contact us to find out about alternative ways of paying.

Venue: The Garden House, 5 Warleigh Road, Brighton BN1 4NT

NB: For further information on Debbie’s workshops and courses, please email debbiehinks2@gmail.com
