Designing a Small Garden – 2-day Workshop

* THIS EVENT HAS NOW FINISHED *

Wednesday 19th January - Wednesday 26th January

This two-day workshop is for those of you with relatively small outdoor spaces, from tiny courtyards to gardens up to 20m x 14m, whether in the town or the country.

Our aim is to inspire you to create a really beautiful outdoor space.  The focus will be on both the hard landscaping and the planting.  You will be based at the Garden House in Brighton, using  the garden and all its plants, artefacts and materials as our key reference points.

For further inspiration, during the workshop we will visit a smaller, beautifully designed and planted private garden in Hove (independent travel to this garden).

You will have the chance to use up-to-date books/materials and other resources to ignite your imagination for both refining your design and using interesting plants.  We will give you an inspiration list to gardens and designers to borrow ideas from, places to visit, nurseries to use and places to source materials.

You will learn how to:

  • Optimise the space
  • Hone your ideas to create a harmonious and balanced design
  • Plan a garden that is pleasing throughout the year
  • Assess your site and draw up a scaled plan
  • Put your ideas into practice!

The course is limited to 6 people, so please secure a place and book soon.

Cost: £245 per person, to include lunch each day, coffee/tea and cake!

Dates:  Weds 19 January, 10am – 12noon (this half-day intro session on Zoom), then Tues 25 and Weds 26 January at The Garden House, 10am to 4pm.

PLEASE BOOK ONLINE. If you are unable to pay online, please contact us to find out about alternative ways of paying.

Venue: The Garden House, 5 Warleigh Road, Brighton BN1 4NT (independent travel to the Hove garden, free on-street parking available)

**COVID update:  As the Garden House studio is a relatively small space and for the safety of all, we have reduced the number of participants in our workshops.  We would also prefer participants to have had double/triple vaccinations, or to have taken a Lateral Flow Test before joining the group (we have some available if needed).  Thank you for your understanding.
