Designing the Smaller Garden – 2-day Workshop

* THIS EVENT HAS NOW FINISHED *

Wednesday 18th August - Thursday 19th August

This two-day workshop is for those of you with relatively small outdoor spaces, from tiny courtyards to gardens up to 20m x 14m, whether in the town or the country.

Our aim is to inspire you to create a really beautiful outdoor space.  The focus will be on both the hard landscaping and the planting.  You will be based at the Garden House, using  the garden, and all its plants, artefacts and materials as our key reference points.

For inspiration, on the afternoon of Day 1 we will visit a smaller, beautifully designed and planted private garden in Hove.  Independant travel to this garden.

Fuelling yourself with inspirational material is key.  There will be plenty of time to look at our many garden books and other materials to ignite your imagination. Lists of gardens and designers to borrow ideas from, places to visit, nurseries to use and places to source materials, will be yours to take away.

You will learn how to:

  • Assess your site and draw up a scale plan
  • Learn how to optimise the space
  • Create a garden that is pleasing throughout the year
  • Hone your ideas to create a harmonious and balanced design
  • Put your ideas into practice!

The course is limited to 8 people, so please secure a place and book soon.

Cost: £190 per person, to include vegetarian lunch in the garden and refreshments

Dates:  18 and 19 August 2021, 10am to 4pm.

PLEASE BOOK ONLINE. If you are unable to pay online, please contact us to find out about alternative ways of paying.

Venue: The Garden House, 5 Warleigh Road, Brighton BN1 4NT (independent travel to the Hove garden, free on-street parking available)
