As I’m sure our regular readers will know, here at The Garden House we are totally passionate about chickens!

And we’ve recently noted a new book published by Ivy Press (ISBN 978-1-78240-200-8) – Chicken & Egg; an Egg-centric Guide to Raising Poultry written by Andy Cawthray and James Hermes, and illustrated by our favourite Brighton watercolour artist Kate Osborne. It’s a beautifully produced book, full of useful information.

Coincidently we’re running another chicken-centric afternoon workshop here on Friday 24 April Hen Keeping in a Small Garden with expert Charlotte Popescu. Ideal for getting to touch and experience live chickens, seeing them in The Garden House coop and wandering about the garden. Charlotte’s afternoon workshop and talk will cover everything you need to know when starting with hens in the garden including housing, feeding, egg laying, predators, how to manage cockerels, and hatching chicks.
